Meet Our Teachers
Joanne Frederick is a Registered Psychologist who has worked with individuals, groups and organizations in a variety of roles since 1987. With a solid and unique combination of skills, training and experience, Joanne established a private practice in order to focus on providing much needed services and support in her home community and beyond. Her work is guided by a passion for helping people find sustainable solutions to life challenges using a mindfulness-based approach. She is a dynamic teacher and presenter who blends her knowledge, skills, wisdom and experience with equal parts of warmth, humour and compassion.
A cancer diagnosis in 2003 dramatically changed the course and purpose of her life. Since that time, Joanne discovered mindfulness and has developed a passion for working with others to truly awakening to life rather than operating on auto-pilot.
The concept of mindfulness is at the core of Joanne’s work with people. She has completed the intensive requirements to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through the Center for Mindfulness (CFM), University of Massachusetts Medical School. MBSR is an evidence-based program that combines meditation and gentle yoga as tools in learning how to use mind and body to do what no one else can do for you: take charge of your health and feel more in control of your life. It is the gold standard of mindfulness-based programs.
